PBS TEACHERLINE COURSES

TeacherLine courses are not always offered through North TIER.  Check the current North TIER catalog.  However, PBS TeacherLine courses are run on the state and national levels for recertification points or graduate credit throughout the year at your own cost.  See http://www.virginiateacherline.org for course schedules.  For more information see our PBS TeacherLine page

NORTH TIER REGISTRATION

Registration for FALL 2008 courses will begin August 27, 2008 and ends September 12, 2008.  Classes begin September 22, 2008 and run an average of 6 weeks. Courses are now $25.  Please read the registration and refund policies below before registering.  NO DROPS OR REFUNDS WILL BE ALLOWED AFTER OCTOBER 6TH.  All course descriptions, dates and registration will be handled through MyLearningPlan.

NORTH TIER REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS

Go to MyLearningPlan: https://www.mylearningplan.com/WebReg/WebRegPortal.asp?D=10952&I=0.  Click on “view catalog” to see the current course offerings and the run dates.  When you find the class you want, click on it.  You will then be taken to a page with the course details and a “click to enroll” button.  Click this button and you will be given a prompt to sign in, if you are already a registered user, or an option for new users.  If you have registered with the MyLearningPlan site before, click I'm a registered user, enter your username and password information. You will then be asked to verify your contact information.

If you have never registered with the MyLearningPlan site, click “I’m a new user” and follow the instructions for setting up an account.  If you previously registered for MyLearningPlan through Loudoun or Stafford counties, click MyLearningPlan.com users. Once you have agreed to the conditions to take the course, you will receive an email confirming that your registration has been received and is pending approval by North TIER.
 
If your registration has been approved by North TIER, you will receive another email confirming that your enrollment is complete and you can expect to hear from your instructor close to the start of your course.
 
If you ever need to alter your registration, you can always return to the MyLearningPlan site and make changes WITHIN THE LIMITS OF THE REGISTRATION/DROP PERIOD.

NORTH TIER REGISTRATION & REFUND POLICIES
Please read carefully. No drops or refunds will be allowed after October 6th!

♦  The North TIER partnership is a consortium of 15 school divisions in Northern Virginia and MHz NETWORKS.  The partnership is a recipient of a grant which provides online professional development courses (worth $200) to its teachers for only $25. 

♦  Students may take only 2 North TIER-sponsored online courses per semester.  Do not register for more than 2 courses, as you will lose the $25 registration fee for each additional course.  This fee is used to off-set the course cost of $200 and allow the North TIER to continue offering high-quality professional development and grants into the future.  Fees will be refunded if North TIER cancels the class.

♦  Students who sign up for a course may drop a course either before the course begins or within a week of the start of the course.  Drops without penalty will not be allowed after the first week of a course, and NO REFUND WILL BE OFFERED.  If the student does not satisfactorily complete the workshop’s performance requirements, and the student does not withdraw from a course during the first week, the student may ineligible to take any additional courses offered through the North TIER.  Decisions may be appealed through the student’s local North TIER representative, who will then forward the appeal request to the appropriate North TIER review committee.  Additionally a failing grade will be recorded for the course and this grade information will be forwarded to the local school division.

♦   Students are expected to maintain academic integrity.  Instances of academic dishonesty such as plagiarism will result in a failing grade being reported for the course.  A failing grade precludes any opportunity to take additional North TIER offerings.  Students may appeal the course facilitator’s recommendation by following the guidelines above.  Additionally this information will be forwarded to the local school division. 

Any student may grieve a course evaluation of his/her performance if that action is deemed arbitrary and capricious.  Students must provide in writing within two weeks of the end of the training.  A form for this request is available through the North TIER representatives.
